Western Sydney residents to benefit from $25 million in funding for local councils

Western Sydney residents are set to benefit from nearly $25 million in funding from the Australian Government for local councils to invest in vital community infrastructure under the Financial Assistance Grant programme.
The third quarterly payment for 2014-15 allows councils to invest in priority projects including for infrastructure, health, sport and recreation, environment, employment and roads.
This funding is a tangible recognition from the Abbott/Truss Government of the importance of local councils, which is in addition to the $2.1 billion Roads to Recovery, $500 million Black Spot and $300 million Bridges Renewal programmes.
I look forward to seeing our local councils in Western Sydney target local priorities with this Financial Assistance Grant funding.
