Community pharmacies in the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury offering COVID-19 vaccine

Friday, 13 August 2021

Community pharmacies in the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury are coming online as part of the Australian Government’s national COVID-19 vaccination program.

Pharmacies providing a COVID-19 vaccination service can be located by visiting the Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s location finder at: https://www.findapharmacy.com.au/our-services/vaccination-services-covid-19.

New pharmacies are being continuously added to the Guild’s finder.

Liberal Senator for Western Sydney, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, said the national vaccination rollout was ramping up.

“As of 11 August, over 49 per cent of eligible people in New South Wales have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine,” Senator Payne said.

“Pharmacies provide additional points of access to the community and increases our vaccine workforce.

“I encourage all eligible people in the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

Minister for Health and Aged Care, Greg Hunt, said the addition of community pharmacy would play a vital role in the vaccine rollout.

“Community pharmacy is an essential part of the Australian health care system and pharmacists are highly accessible health care professionals who provide patients with access to vital medicines, health care services and support,” Minister Hunt said.

The National COVID Vaccine Taskforce is continuing to work with state and territory Governments to accelerate the vaccination program and ensure the nation has broad coverage of primary care sites across the country who are delivering the COVID-19 vaccine.

Community pharmacies will also participate in the rollout of the Moderna vaccine from September.

The Guild’s finder does not cater to questions of eligibility. Any person wishing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine should first visit the Department of Health’s Eligibility Checker at Australia.gov.au.
