Additional infrastructure funding supports the Hawkesbury’s economic recovery

Over $2.4 million in federal funding has been allocated to twenty two infrastructure projects in the Hawkesbury under the Morrison Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.
Phase 2 of the government’s local infrastructure package provides funding to rehabilitate eight local roads and the reconstruction of fourteen footpaths.
Major roads to be repaved include Industry Road in Mulgrave AND Terrace Road in Richmond, among others.
Liberal Senator for Western Sydney, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, said the new funding would further bolster the Blue Mountains’ economic recovery.
“We know that investing in infrastructure projects creates an economic ripple effect across the local economy, and this latest funding package will support local jobs,” Senator Payne said.
“Every job engaged through Phase 2 is another example of how the Morrison Government is delivering on-the-ground support for the Hawkesbury.
“Phase 3 of the Program will commence from 1 January 2022, cementing our local infrastructure and jobs pipeline, and I look forward to continuing to work with Council to deliver this third tranche.”
Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Patrick Conolly, who inspected a completed LRCI project on Mileham Street in South Windsor, welcomed the federal government’s investment.
“Quality roads and paths are top priority for our community. The LRCI funding will go a long way to improve some of our City’s most heavily-used roads and pedestrian areas,” Mayor Conolly said.
“Not only will this mean a safer drive for motorists, but also improve the walkability of our City for access and leisure.”
Under Phase 1 of the LRCI Program, Hawkesbury City Council received over $1 million in July 2020 to complete the fix eleven footpath.
