Data match reveals $200,000 Queensland fraud

A Queensland man has today received a four year sentence for fraudulently claiming almost $200,000 in welfare payments.

The Brisbane District Court heard 70-year-old Sandstone Point resident Milan Rakic created a fake identity to claim income support payments, including the Age Pension and Disability Support Pension, over 13 years.

Minister for Human Services Senator the Hon Marise Payne said the punishment handed out to Mr Rakic is a reminder that stealing from taxpayers will not be tolerated.
