The surge in mortgage delinquencies for the March quarter is more evidence home borrowers are struggling as a result of Labor’s debt-financed spending binge, said Shadow Minister for Housing, Senator Marise Payne.

Labor’s budget does nothing to boost the supply and affordability of housing in Australia, continuing the pain for struggling homeowners and renters, said Shadow Minister for Housing, Senator Marise Payne.

Housing affordability continues to suffer under Labor with mortgage stress rising from 15 per cent of home borrowers in September 2010 to 21 per cent in 2011, according to a report from mortgage insurer Genworth Financial Services, said Senator Marise Payne, Shadow Minister for Housing.

Senator Marise Payne, Shadow Minister for Housing, has called on the Rudd-Gillard Government to back up its words with actions following a speech by Social Housing Minister Senator Mark Arbib which highlighted shortcomings in the social housing sector.
